Class Descriptions

ANUSARA
Anusara is a heart-centered style of hatha yoga that develops our connection with nature. This practice balances strength and flexibility, focusing on alignment and ease of movement. These classes are fun and challenging, and help to cultivate freedom in body and life.

BEGINNER MIX
For those with less than 6 months of yoga experience, this ongoing class moves at a slower pace and helps the beginner achieve confidence to progress systematically. Clear and approachable instruction is given covering basic beginner poses, including standing poses, seated poses, forward bends, simple backbends, and twists. Breathing and relaxation techniques are also presented.

HATHA
Hatha yoga is a traditional class which incorporates the masculine (active) and feminine (passive) energies of the body and uniquely assists students to gravitate into one’s physical and emotional structure. This allows a natural shift in attention towards the heart, where surrender is invited and an opportunity to connect more deeply into present moment experience is possible.  This class includes a warm up, followed by a dynamic sequence of asana(poses) and breathing, followed with deep relaxation techniques in preparation for meditation. It is suitable for beginner and experienced student alike.

DYNAMIC
For experienced students looking to deepen their yoga practice. The class is taught in three parts, beginning with opening exercises which prepare the major joints of the body for practice; followed by a dynamic, flow style sequence which builds heat and strengthens the digestive fire and metabolic function of the body; and ends with closing exercises designed to calm the nervous system in preparation for meditation. This class requires a minimum of 6 months yoga experience and is not suitable for beginners.

RESTOREmore
For experienced students, this class uses slow movement and long stable holds to re-balance physically, mentally, and emotionally. This type of work is helpful for those working with injuries or those with a regular dynamic yoga practice needing a rest, and will include seated meditation instruction. This class requires a minimum of 6 months yoga experience and is not suitable for beginners.

RESTORE
For beginners or those with therapeutic needs. Instruction is designed to restore balance physically, mentally and emotionally. Students will be encouraged to work with the limitations that are present in their bodies, ie injuries, stiffness, weakness, or limited mobility. It will incorporate slow, gentle movement to help “reset” the body/mind complex, which is helpful for healing and those working with injuries.  No previous experience is required.

VINYASA
Vinyasa is a progressive way of instruction that incorporates a linking of poses and breath, which embraces modern culture and maintains a connection to traditional yoga philosophy. This class is taught in an all-levels format, and participants can expect a relaxing challenge.
